Product & Project Manager — Software Development

  • Product & Engineering
  • Remote (India)
  • Full-time

Kainotomic, Inc. · 1–3 years of relevant experience

Reports to the founder

About the role

Kainotomic is an early-stage AI company building infrastructure and marketplace products for people creating software with AI.

This role is for someone who has worked hands-on as a software developer and is moving into, or already doing, product and project management. You should be comfortable reading and changing code, tracing how a feature works across the frontend and backend, and debugging problems yourself.

You'll own a defined feature or workflow from a user problem to a working release. Work with the founder and engineers to decide what to build, break it into manageable tasks, resolve technical questions, test it and improve it after launch. You'll also build small prototypes or scripts when they help the team make a decision or unblock delivery.

What you'll do

  • Understand a specific user problem and turn it into clear requirements, acceptance criteria and a small delivery plan
  • Break work into tasks, track dependencies and blockers, and keep the founder and team clear on progress and decisions
  • Read code and follow frontend, backend, API and data flows to discuss implementation trade-offs with engineers
  • Reproduce and investigate bugs using code, logs, network requests or database queries; make focused code changes when useful
  • Build small prototypes, scripts or working demos, using AI tools where they help and personally reviewing and testing the output
  • Test releases against acceptance criteria, including failure cases and edge cases, before calling the work complete
  • Follow usage and feedback after launch and recommend the next improvement

Required experience and skills

  • Prior hands-on software development experience is required. You have personally written, changed, debugged and shipped software, whether you are still a developer or have moved into product or project management
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience overall, with a clear account of your software development work; we are not asking for an additional number of years in management
  • Ability to read and change code and explain how frontend, backend, APIs and databases fit together in software you have worked on
  • Practical debugging experience, including using logs, requests, code or queries to narrow down a problem and verify the result
  • Ability to build a small prototype or script with AI assistance and check the generated code and behavior yourself
  • Clear writing and delivery planning: you can define acceptance criteria, break work into manageable tasks and communicate blockers early
  • Comfort working independently and collaborating with a remote team

Experience with developer tools, SaaS products or AI-powered features would be useful. The role owns a defined product area and its delivery; it does not require owning company-wide architecture or strategy.

Apply

Show us software you personally built or changed, something you built with AI, and a bug you debugged yourself. Explain your own code and decisions. Short, specific answers are welcome, and you can describe private work without sharing confidential code or client information.

We are looking for someone with hands-on software development experience who can take on product and project ownership. Show us your own coding, debugging and delivery work. A few clear sentences for each example are enough. Share only work you have permission to share; leave out confidential client information, credentials and identity documents.

City, country and time zone are enough. No street address needed.

Include your roles, duration, languages or frameworks, and systems you built before or alongside product or project management.

What problem did it solve, which stack did you use, and what code did you personally write or change? Explain how you tested it and what shipped. Share a repository, PR or demo link if you can; an anonymized description of private work is fine. Up to 1500 characters.

Which tool did you use, what working code or prototype did you produce, and what did you personally review, test or fix before relying on it? Include something the AI got wrong or could not do. Up to 1000 characters.

What should have happened, what actually happened, and how did you trace the cause using code, logs, network requests or database queries? Describe your own fix or investigation and how you verified the outcome. Up to 1000 characters.

Include the amount or range, currency, and month or year. Say whether it is gross base pay or total compensation. You can write “Open to discussing.”
